I've been contemplating the words "generative" and "generosity" of late in thinking about my own relationship to creativity. Some brief research into the etymology of the words was not particularly fruitful. It would seem that "generosity" is rooted in some old world elitism that does not resonate for me. Nonetheless, the poetic similarity remains, and I hold that every act of creative generativity is also an act of generosity. What we make -- what we stir up in the world -- is also what we give. I look forward with eager anticipation to a summer of creative exploration!
Gracious Fire
This gentle burning wakes us; no mercy on our soul. It will not be extinguished but lives forevermore.
For us and for our dying to each and every day, that we might wake awash in grace; find light amidst the gray.
